The following are MDDS members running for the 2018/2019 Board of Directors. Before clicking the link to vote, please read each bio to help you make an informed decision on your Society’s leadership.

Patrick Prendergast, DDS

Dr. Patrick Prendergast is originally from central Nebraska and attended the University of Notre Dame, prior to graduating from Creighton University School of Dentistry.  After graduation, he moved to Colorado and purchased a small practice in Centennial, which he has maintained since 1982.  Pat has always been a member of the ADA, CDA, and MDDS, and has served organized dentistry in many positions. At CDA, he was a member and chair of the Council on Peer Review. At MDDS, he has chaired the Peer Review Committee, served on the Board of Directors, and has been an Ambassador, and RMDC Speaker Host and RMDC Panel Speaker. He has also served as Section Chair of the Colorado Section of the Pierre Fauchard Academy, served through the chairs of Rocky Mountain Dental Study Club, is a fellow in the International College of Dentists, and a board member for the Colorado Section of the American College of Dentists.  He has volunteered at the Colorado Mission of Mercy (COMOM) for 11 years and is the Vice President of the COMOM Board of Directors.  He and his wife, Janie, have been married for 41 years and raised three beautiful children. Dr. Prendergast continues his endless quest with his fly rod, to one day be known as a “Trout Whisperer.”

Nicole Furuta, DDS

Dr. Nicole Furuta was born and raised in Honolulu, HI. Since moving to Colorado over 11 years ago, she has enjoyed every minute of living in such an active state. She currently owns a private general practice in Downtown Denver.

Dr. Furuta received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Puget Sound. She is a doctoral graduate of the University of Iowa College of Dentistry and has completed a one-year general practice residency at the veteran’s hospital in La Jolla, CA. Dr. Furuta continues her education each year with some of the nation’s top clinicians. She loves staying up to date with the latest techniques and advances in dentistry.

Nicole has had previous leadership experience on the Metro Denver Dental Foundation (MDDF) board as a director and vice president. She is looking forward to working with some of the top leaders of the Metro Denver Dental Society.

Michael Scheidt, DDS, MS

Dr. Mike Scheidt is a former president of the Metro Denver Dental Society (MDDS) and has been a Trustee and Alternate Trustee to the Colorado Dental Association (CDA). Dr. Scheidt is a native Hoosier, graduating from Indiana University School of Dentistry and receiving his specialty training in Periodontics at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. He is a board-certified periodontist, practicing dentistry for 47 years and in his specialty for 41 years. Dr. Scheidt has taught periodontics in multiple residency programs. For the past 18 years, he has been an active volunteer for MDDS and is currently the chair of the Continuing Education and Events committee hosting programs at the Mountain West Dental Institute (MWDI).

Jeffrey Lodl, DDS

Dr. Jeff Lodl is a long-time member of MDDS and first became active when he began attending Jeffco chapter meetings after purchasing his practice. After serving as a chapter officer and director on the MDDS Board, Dr. Lodl served as President in 2005. Dr. Lodl has also served as programming chair for the Rocky Mountain Dental Convention (RMDC) for more than 10 years. He has volunteered at the state and national level, serving as a delegate to Colorado Dental Association (CDA) for many years as well as an alternate delegate to the American Dental Association (ADA).

Dr. Lodl is passionate about outreach and is currently vice president of the Colorado Chapter of Dental Lifeline Network (DLN). And, he has volunteered for Kids in Need of Dentistry (KIND), the former Metro Denver Dental Foundation (MDDF) Smile Again Program, Denver Rescue Mission and many other organizations.

The Metro Denver Dental Society is a not-for-profit component society of the American Dental Association and the Colorado Dental Association.

The MDDS is an ADA CERP Recognized Provider. ADA CERP is a service of the American Dental Association to assist dental professionals in identifying quality providers of continuing dental education. ADA CERP does not approve or endorse individual courses or instructors, nor does it imply acceptance of credit hours by boards of dentistry. MDDS designates courses for the number of CE hours listed with each course. MDDS credits are approved by the AGD for Fellowship and Mastership credits.
