Job Summary: The School of Dental Medicine (SDM) is looking for a developed Sterilization and Dispensary Training & Development Professional to support the SDM Clinical Operations, Support Services department through talent acquisition, onboarding, compliance, and ongoing training & development. This position reports to the Support Services Program Director and will collaborate with several other Sterilization and Dispensary professionals throughout the department and School of Dental Medicine.

We are seeking health care professionals who are looking to develop in sterilization and dispensary training. The position is located at the University of Colorado – Anschutz Medical Campus. Hours will be dependent on business need (i.e., career fairs, employee consultations, professional development), but typically will be Monday – Friday between the hours of 8:00am and 5:00 pm. Hybrid options may be considered and will be determined by the Support Services Program Director.

Depending on skills and experiences, the selected candidate may be hired at either the Senior Professional level or Principal Professional level.

Key Responsibilities:

All Levels:

  • Assesses and coordinates educational needs, instructs staff on technical skills and regulatory requirements; provides ongoing training and development relating to sterile processing and instrument dispensary control standards, departmental practices, and evaluates results; oversees orientation programs and training of sterilization and dispensary staff; conducts in-service and continuing education.
  • Ensures departmental operations and products comply with safety regulations, industry standards, regulatory and licensing agency standards and SDM Sterilization and Dispensary policies and procedures; conducts audits to monitor compliance; implements, manages and leads process improvement initiatives.
  • Participates in design, implementation, and maintenance of department policies and procedures to ensure regulatory/licensing survey readiness at all times; engages in assigned learning and development opportunities.
  • Manages, implements and leads process improvement initiatives, develops, implements and monitors quality management and performance improvement studies; maintains knowledge of industry standards; participates in committees.
  • Serves as the department lead, in collaboration with SDMHR, in talent acquisition; oversees orientation programs and training of department staff; provides ongoing and annual performance productivity feedback.
  • Prepares reports, conducts analysis and maintains necessary records, correspondence and reports.
  • Serves as a back-up and department partner for department leadership and staff.

Principal Professional Level Only:

  • Analyzes and evaluates talent acquisition for Sterilization and Dispensary; those at the principal professional job level are responsible for creating recruitment programming for Sterilization and Dispensary positions.
  • Serves as the department lead in the design, implementation, and maintenance of department policies and procedures to ensure regulatory/licensing survey readiness at all times; stays abreast of legislation and changes in requirements through review of literature and attendance of seminars; makes changes to department practices and makes recommendations.

Anticipated Pay Range: The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as

  • Sr. Professional Level – $60,445 – $69,510
  • Principal Professional – $69,511 – $78,576

The above hiring range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation depending on the level.
