SUMMARY:Infection Control Webinar Series: What’s In Your Water? Keeping Your Dental Unit Waterlines Safe for Your Patients
DESCRIPTION:Infection Control Webinar Series: What’s In Your Water? Keeping Your Dental Unit Waterlines Safe for Your Patients\nPresented by Alyssa Aberle\, MBA\, RDH\, CDIPC \nIn 2022\, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) issued a health advisory related to outbreaks of nontuberculous mycobacteria infections and the high importance of maintaining and monitoring dental unit waterlines. Dental teams and patients have become increasingly aware of the risks from receiving treatment involving contaminated water sources. While many dental offices take steps to treat or maintain dental unit waterlines\, we need to be proactive about monitoring the bacterial loads in our waterlines to ensure that we are not putting our patients at risk. \nObjectives: \n\nReview the microbiology of dental unit waterlines and the infectious risks that can be present\nDiscuss dental unit waterline maintenance options and strategies to help maintain low bacterial loads in our dental units\nEstablish protocols for testing and monitoring dental unit waterline quality and what to do if dental unit waterline tests show increased levels of bacteria\n\nMs. Alyssa Aberle is a  graduate of the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine’s dental hygiene program. Alyssa has spent her dental hygiene career working with several local nonprofit organizations. She has a Certificate in Dental Infection Prevention and Control (CDIPC) and works with dental teams to provide annual OSHA and infection control training\, audit preparation\, and consulting to help implement better infection prevention practices for their patients. Ms. Aberle’s background as the Infection Control Coordinator for a large multi-site community health center gives her expertise in implementing systems to efficiently provide safe care. \nPlease note: This course is not intended to meet the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens annual training requirement as outlined in the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard.  This course is intended to be a “closer look” at a specific infection control-related topic to supplement the annual OSHA training required for all employees in your practice. \nDate: Thursday\, September 12\, 2024 \nTime: 6:30pm – 7:30pm \nRate:\n$0 MDDS Member\n$0 MDDS Member Dental Team\n$25 MDDS Non-Member\n$25 MDDS Non-Member Dental Team \nLocation: Zoom Webinar \nCredits: 1 \nFormat: Virtual \nCancellation Deadline: September 6\, 2024 \nRegistration Deadline: September 11\, 2024 \nCancellation Policy\nCancellations will be accepted and are entitled to a refund provided they are received at MDDS by the cancellation deadline. Refunds will not be given for cancellations after the cancellation deadline.

SUMMARY:2024 Colorado Mission of Mercy
DESCRIPTION:The Colorado Mission of Mercy (COMOM) is a large-scale dental clinic that is held annually in a Colorado community. \nThe concept is simple: Create a two-day dental clinic in a large facility and open the clinic doors to the community. Dental services are provided to any person on a “no questions asked” basis. Patients are evaluated and treated based on their most urgent dental needs. Patients undergo dental treatments such as cleanings\, fillings\, root canals\, and extractions. The best part about COMOM is that this quality treatment is provided at no cost to patients. \nDate: September 27-28\, 2024 \nLocation: Thornton\, CO

SUMMARY:Infection Control Webinar Series: Dental Instruments 101: Mastering Instrument Reprocessing and Sterilization Protocols
DESCRIPTION:Infections Control Webinar Series: Dental Instruments 101: Mastering Instrument Reprocessing and Sterilization Protocols\nPresented by Alyssa Aberle\, MBA\, RDH\, CDIPC \nInstrument reprocessing is at the heart of a dental practice’s infection control plan and maintaining a safe care environment for our patients. Dental team members must understand the importance of proper instrument sterilization. In this course\, we will discuss the rationale behind each step in instrument reprocessing and how to avoid common mistakes. \nObjectives: \n\nReview the steps for instrument reprocessing\nDiscuss common errors or gaps in protocols\nHelp dental teams implement processes to ensure proper sterilization and decrease risk for infection control breaches.\n\nMs. \nDate: Thursday\, November 14\, 2024 \nTime: 6:30pm – 7:30pm \nRate:\n$0 MDDS Member\n$0 MDDS Member Dental Team\n$25 MDDS Non-Member\n$25 MDDS Member Dental Team \nLocation: Zoom Webinar \nCredits: 1 \nFormat: Virtual \nCancellation Deadline: November 8\, 2024 \nRegistration Deadline: November 13\, 2024 \nCancellation Policy\nCancellations will be accepted and are entitled to a refund provided they are received at MDDS by the cancellation deadline. SUMMARY:MDDS Presents: HANDS-ON Nitrous Oxide/Oxygen Administration Training
DESCRIPTION:HANDS-ON Nitrous Oxide/Oxygen Administration Training\nPresented by Dr. Jeffrey Young \nAnxiety and pain are two of the main obstacles to the acceptance of dental care. Appropriate administration and use of Nitrous Oxide/Oxygen can be a safe\, effective means to alleviate mild to moderate fear and anxiety.
