Implementing robust patient and staff safety policies in a dental office can significantly reduce liability and operational costs by proactively preventing harm, ensuring compliance and optimizing workflows. This webinar will provide an overview of practices and procedures that promote decreased liability, more efficient workflows, improved regulatory compliance, and better staff and patient retention, with resulting cost savings for your practice.

Objectives

  • Describe specific safety protocols that can be implemented to reduce risk and decrease liability.
  • Describe specific guidelines and internal processes related to management of protected health information and compliance that can prevent untoward breaches of care and resulting financial implications.
  • Describe specific practices that offices can employ to ensure adherence to standards of care and evidence-based practices to decrease redos, remakes and increase liability.

Micaela Gibbs, DDS, MHA, is Senior Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs and Professional Practice at the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine. A CU alumna, Dr. Gibbs is nationally recognized for her leadership in clinical operations and academic dentistry. She has served as Chief Dental Officer at the University of Texas Health San Antonio School of Dentistry and spent two decades at the University of Florida, where she advanced access to care initiatives and led major extramural and global outreach programs. A dedicated advocate for underserved populations, she secured over $8 million in grant funding to expand care delivery and dental education programs. Her work has consistently emphasized patient safety and adherence to HIPAA standards, ensuring that expanded services uphold the highest levels of privacy, ethical care and regulatory compliance.
